Yarnbombing IRL: Benfleet

Whilst out for the afternoon with my Mum on Tuesday we decided to visit one of my favourite yarn shops, Bodkins, in Benfleet, Essex.

Bodkins is a great little shop, full to the brim with yarn, patterns and other fibre art bits and bobs. Outside they have this super cute pompom sheep…

But this time when I visited there was so much more out the front of the shop! Take a look at this! 😀

A whole railing of yarnbombing!! The pieces seemed to be centred around an ocean theme – with octopi, mermaids, a lighthouse, turtle and whale all making an appearance…

I talked to the lady who runs the shop about the display out front, and couldn’t believe it when she told me they had had pieces stolen from the display. It’s so sad – I can remember a piece of yarnbombing being stolen from the top of a postbox outside Chalkwell Station the other year too. Why do people have to be so horrible?

But anyway, I really liked looking at the yarnbombing outside Bodkins – it makes the place look so colourful and happy.

Have you ever seen yarnbombing near where you live?
