This week, to continue with the Japanese theme, I’d like to feature this adorable Tuxedo Sam amigurumi pattern by the fab AmeiguruMEI!
I LOVE Tuxedo Sam. I am even thinking about completing my kawaii themed half sleeve tattoo with a little Sam of my own (yes, I really do love Kawaii!) So I naturally couldn’t pass up this cutie when I found him on Tumblr last month.
The pattern is by the very talented AmiguruMEI – a Malaysian Amigurumi Artist who resides in Kuala Lumpur. She has written many patterns, including a Hello Kitty Crochet book (which you can find here) as well as a plethora of kawaii inspired free patterns, which are available on her super cute website, AmiguruMEI.com.
This pattern is written in easy to read US terms, with full photo tutorials on how to make the trickier bow, feet and hat pieces, and assembly instructions. Mei recommends both 2.5mm and 1.75mm hooks, and the addition of small pebbles to weigh Sam down (awww!).
I would LOVE to make one of these, and plan to do just that when I have finished my latest blanket project. I bought some Bonny Babe DK yarn today in turquoise, which I think would be perfect for my own Sam!
If you would like to make your own too, you can check out the free pattern on Mei’s website here.
Also be sure to check out the rest of her kawaii themed pieces in her free pattern directory, here.
I hope you enjoyed having a little look at Mei’s Tuxedo Sam! Happy Crocheting!
